WORLD PEACE & JUSTICE FOUNDATION

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Why We're Here

The World Peace & Justice Foundation came about as a response to a number of very real needs.

Of the 192 Member States of the United Nations, the majority have a history of valuing war and violence and the suppression of human rights over valuing peaceful cooperation and justice for all. In 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR urges member nations to promote a number of human, civil, economic and social rights, asserting these rights are part of the "foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world." While the UDHR is a non-binding declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, it is considered to be a central component of international customary law which may be invoked under appropriate circumstances by national and other judiciaries.

The World Peace & Justice Foundation asserts that the guarantee of basic human rights - civil and political rights, such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and equality before the law; and social, cultural and economic rights, including the right to participate in culture, the right to food, the right to work, and the right to education - is the basis for lasting peace in a just world.

By international law, the United Nations Security Council is the only group authorized to enforce human rights laws.
